2010 Ox Roast Parade Float

On September 4th. WJUMC had a float in the Ox Roast Parade. Members of the JAM Youth Group did a great job in decorating it and all that rode and walked had a great time.

Ryan Martin and Allison Looby are carrying the banner while Sydney Looby and Sydney Gaus is riding their scooters behind!

Using Bob Godden’s truck and wagon, David Arganbright is driving while Pastor Pat Oesterle, Pauline Cullman and Judy Arganbright ride in the back.

The Theme of the Ox Roast was Celebration. So the JAM Youth Group decorated it with their own drawings along with green and white balloons (the colors of the Youth Group). Riders on the Float were: Tom Looby, Ty Martin, Maddie Gaus, Kelly Looby, Emily Thrasher, Laura Gaus, Sierra Cowper, Jackie Looby and Kayleigh Martin.

Everyone had a great time throwing candy and waving to friends and neighbors!

On Sunday, August 29th. Pastor Pat welcomed new members, Betty Webb, Wendy Webb, Steve Heminger, Connie Harbage, April Arganbright and Arla Cahill to our church.

Blessing of the Backpacks

With school approaching, Pastor Pat blessed each child’s backpack on August 22nd. during the Traditional Worship Service and said this prayer.

Lord, these backpacks remind us that a new school year is about to begin. We pray your blessing upon their owners and upon all students, young and old, as they begin this new school year. We ask your blessing, also, on all who work with or support them in their education. Let each person who stands before us now feel the love and support of this congregation, and grant this congregation the wisdom and means to meet their needs throughout the coming year.

Blessing the Animals Service

On August 15, 2010 we had a special service for our pets who give us unconditional love and comfort.

The Service was held in our Courtyard and all will agree it was a special event.

Blessed are you Lord God of the Universe. In your infinite wisdom you created the earth and blessed us with all living creatures. I especially thank you for entrusting me with my pet, my friend, who brings me so much happiness and whose presence very often helps me get through trying times.

Please bless my pet and make me a responsible steward of your creature. May we continue to give each other joy and remind us of our power. As my pet trusts me to take care of it, help me remember to trust you to take care of us, for in so doing we share in your love for all your creatures.

And especially, we remember all endangered species and ask your help in taking care of them so that we may continue to appreciate all of your creation. Grant this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
